In the first seven months, Hubei’s project contractors witnessed brisk growth in operating income totaling 2.67 billion U.S. dollars and newly signed contracts overseas worth 10.62 billion U.S. dollars, surging 37.6 percent year on year and ranking second in China, the Department of Commerce of Hubei Province said on August 26.
Hubei’s engineering companies, including China Gezhouba Group, CCCC Second Harbour Engineering Co., Ltd and China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd, enjoyed competitive edges in outward contracted projects, with 19 such projects worth more than 100 million U.S. dollars each, which amounted to 9.44 billion U.S. dollars in the first seven months.
The enterprises in Hubei have accelerated the development pace in foreign countries. The first seven months saw 48 newly-established overseas investment enterprises, with a year-on-year increase of 17.1 percent.
Hubei’s investment structure continued to be optimized, mainly flowing to the fields of manufacturing, leasing, business services, wholesale and retail, among which the manufacturing investment valued 265 million U.S. dollars.
Countries along the Belt and Road continued to be growth engines for Hubei contractors' overseas business. In the first seven months, the actual investment in the countries along the Belt and Road was 183 million U.S. dollars. And the newly signed contract amount reached 8.67 billion U.S. dollars, up 50.5 percent year on year, accounting for 81.6 percent of the province's total in the same period. The investment cooperative projects mainly flowed to Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Russia and other countries.
