Hubei certifies six overseas economic trade and cooperative zones

  Hubei Province has certified six provincial-level overseas economic and trade cooperation zones recently, in a step toward providing significant platforms to help local enterprises go global and promote international cooperation, local commercial department said on March 25.

  Overseas economic and trade cooperation zones refer to the economic and trade cooperation zones invested and constructed by Chinese enterprises in overseas countries. The zones take enterprises as the main body, commercial operation as the basis, and exploring mutual benefits and win-win results as the target.

  The six overseas economic and trade cooperation zones are the China-Belgium Technology Center, the Myotha Industrial Park City (the part specializing in processing and manufacturing) in Mandalay, Myanmar, the Hubei Lianfeng Agricultural Industrial Cooperation Zone in Mozambique, the Building Materials Industrial Park of Huaxin Cement in Cambodia, the Hubei Overseas Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone in Gambia and Lianhe Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone in Mozambique.

  They are engaged in the fields of technology research and development, processing and manufacturing, agricultural industry and resource utilization.

  Currently, there are 72 enterprises locating in the six overseas economic and trade cooperation zones, including 22 enterprises from Hubei Province. They have created 12,600 local jobs and generated import and export volume of 297.5 million U.S.dollars .
