Wuhan maps out international transportation development in 2021-2025

  Wuhan will further promote international passenger and cargo transportation, according to a plan issued by Wuhan government on developing comprehensive transportation during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025) on March 21.

  The plan clarifies that China-Europe Railway Express (Wuhan) will be built into a land-sea international channel connecting Europe, Central Asia, Japan and South Korea. It will see increased cooperation with the direct near-sea shipping lines, realization of the departure and arrival at the Yangluo Port, as well as closer connection with China-Laos Railway and Maritime Silk Road in the following years.

  The plan also points out that Wuhan will further weave the international passenger air traffic network, resuming flights to Taipei, Taichung and Sydney, opening new flights to Melbourne, Auckland, New Delhi, Mumbai and Colombo, resuming or opening flights to San Francisco and New York during the period.

  In addition, Wuhan will intensify cooperation with international freight hubs to enhance its airfreight capacity. Freight routes to Europe and the United States will be increased, cooperation with Asia-Pacific region, ASEAN countries, Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia will be enhanced, and the freight routes linking Australia and Central Asia will be launched.

  By 2025, the number of international and regional passenger and freight routes are expected to reach 80, the plan revealed.
