The passenger throughput of fivecivil airports in Hubei have been listed among China’s top 100 in 2021, ranking first in central China, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) on March 27.

  In 2021, Wuhan Tianhe International Airport handled nearly 19.8 million passengers, with a year-on-year increase of 54.6 percent, ranking 13th place nationwide, the CAAC data showed.

  Among fourfeeder airports, annual passenger throughput of Yichang Sanxia Airport, Xiangyang Liuji Airport, Enshi Xujiaping Airport and Shiyan Wudangshan Airport stood at 2.2 million, 1.74 million, 1.3 million and 1.13 million, ranking 57th, 68th, 83th and 91th, respectively.

  In 2021, Hubei's seven civil airports handled  26.637 million passengers and  325,000 tons of cargo and mail, up 50 percent and  65 percent year on year, respectively, said Liu Jun, head of the Transportation Department of Hubei Safety Supervision Administration of Civil Aviation.
