ASEAN becomes Hubei's largest trading partner in 2021

  Hubei's trade with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) expanded 34.1 percent year on year to 74.37 billion yuan in 2021, as ASEAN  has become Hubei's largest trading partner, statistics released by Wuhan Customs showed.

  Both exports and imports set a new record during the period, and the export growth hit record a high in nearly 8 years, according to the same source.

  In December alone, Hubei’ s trade with ASEAN stood at 8.17 billion yuan, reaching a monthly high.

  Hubei’s imports and exports of general trade with ASEAN amounted to 55.24 billion yuan last year, accounting for 74.3 percent of the province's total with ASEAN  in the same period .

  In 2021, the imports and exports from ASEAN made by private enterprises registered 43.99 billion yuan, contributing around 60 percent to the province’s foreign trade with ASEAN, while those by state-owned enterprises and foreign-funded enterprises added up to 17.13 billion yuan and 13.23 billion yuan, respectively.

  Hubei's exports of mechanical and electrical products, agricultural products and labor-intensive products to ASEAN totaled 25.91 billion, 8.08 billion and  6.46 billion yuan, respectively, while its imports of mechanical and electrical products from ASEAN posted 15.53 billion yuan, taking up a 77.8-percent share of the province's total imports from ASEAN in 2021.
