On  March 20, a green laser industry base was launched in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province.

  With a planned area of about 3,600 mu (2.4 million square meters), the base is core of the optoelectronic information industry cluster in East Lake Science City. It has now gathered three listed companies (i.e. Wuhan Raycus Fiber Laser Tech, DR Laser and HGTECH) and an array of national-level specialized and special new giant enterprises.

  The base has set up a national-local joint engineering research center, a national enterprise technology center, Hubei Provincial Engineering Research Center and other national and provincial innovation platforms. It is promoting the integration of innovation chain, industrial chain and value chain with centering on the goal of creating a laser industry innovation cluster with global influence.

  At the launch ceremony, a batch of projects worth about 20 billion yuan were signed .
