Seven universities in Hubei have been included in the second list of universities and disciplines under the ‘double world-class project’, released by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and the National Development and Reform Commission on February 14.

  A total of 147 universities in China have been selected on the list. Among them, the universities in Hubei are Wuhan University (11 disciplines), Huazhong University of Science and Technology (9), China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) (2), Wuhan University of Technology (1), Huazhong Agricultural University (5), Central China Normal University (3) and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (1).

  The universities and disciplines were chosen based on their ability to nurture top talent and innovative teams in major and core scientific and technological fields in accordance with national development strategies. And no consideration was given to the rankings of universities or research papers published.
