Carrie Lam wraps up visit to Hubei

  Chief Executive of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Carrie Lam left Wuhan on the afternoon of Dec. 1, concluding her four-day visit to central China’s Hubei Province.

  Secretary of CPC Hubei Provincial Committee Ying Yong, Hubei provincial governor Wang Zhonglin, and other officials respectively accompanied Lam’s attendance in different events during her visit.

  On Nov. 29, the delegation of the HKSAR government led by Lam came to the Wuhan Asia General Hospital, where she paid tribute to the front-line anti-epidemic medical staff and presented them a pennant. She then had knowledge of the self-driving technology developed in Wuhan at an intelligent connected vehicle research base.

  At the High-level Meeting cum the First Plenary Session of Hong Kong / Hubei Co-operation Conference held on the same day, Lam witnessed the signing of an agreement and a memorandum on Hong Kong / Hubei Co-operation Conference, which marks the formal establishment of the first cooperation mechanism between HKSAR and China’s central province.

  After viewing the chime bells of Marquis Yi of the ancient Zeng State at the Hubei Provincial Museum on Nov. 30, Lam introduced that a branch of Palace Museum is set to open in Hong Kong next year, hoping more exchanges with Hubei in cultural relic protection.

  At a forum held by the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Hubei Province , she talked with the representatives from Hong Kong-funded enterprises and attended the launch ceremony of an innovation service center for Hong Kong youth in Hubei.

  She also went to the Memorial Hall of the Wuchang Uprising of the Revolution of 1911, paid an inspection tour to the China Information and Communication Technology Group Co., Ltd. and Wuhan Huazhong Numerical Control Co., Ltd. on the same day.

  On the morning of Dec. 1, Lam visited China Hubei Emission Exchange and met teachers and students at Wuhan University. She pointed out that Hong Kong has set out proactive strategies and measures on reducing carbon emissions and is striving to achieve carbon neutrality before 2050, adding that the city looks forward to cooperation with Hubei in related field.

  During her stop at Wuhan University, she met the university's president Prof Dou Xiankang, toured the campus and had an exchange session with students.

  She expressed her desire on deepening cooperation between Hubei and Hong Kong universities, so as to provide more and better opportunities for young people in the two places.
