The event promoting trade and investment between Hubei and Latin American and Caribbean countries were held on April 28, in Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, under the theme of “Gathering in Heroic Land, Joining Hands for a New Chapter”.
34 diplomats of 21 countries to China and representatives of over 70 leading companies and industry associations from Hubei sit down together for talks on new cooperation opportunities.
Fernando Lugris, Uruguay's ambassador to China, reviewed the exchanges and cooperation between Uruguay and China at the event. He noted that Uruguay is willing to further diversify the export products to China, and deepen the bilateral exchanges in the fields of tourism, logistics, finance, services, information technology, and art.
The "Uruguayan Week" in Hubei is about to kick off in the near future, which will perform activities such as trade promotion and a film festival, he revealed.
Guyana’s ambassador to China Choo Anyin praised Hubei for its complete infrastructures and impressive modern architectures, while Venezuela's ambassador to China Felix Plasencia expressed his expectation of having more trade cooperation with Hubei during the event.
The heads of seven leading companies and industry associations in Hubei, including China Gezhouba Group International Engineering Co., Ltd., Changjiang Institute of Survey, Planning, Design and Research, Hubei Association for Science & Technology, YOFC and Dongfeng, introduced their business in and development visions for Latin American and Caribbean countries.
"Hubei’s development potential and advantages are obvious. We are confident to explore more development opportunities together," deputy director of the Argentine Embassy in China Leandro Compagnucci said, adding that Argentina and Gezhouba Group will conduct deeper cooperation in the future based on the ongoing projects.
Hubei has a long history of cooperation with Latin American and Caribbean countries, which has laid a solid foundation for the two sides’ practical cooperation in agriculture, mining, forestry resource development, automobile and equipment manufacturing. In the first quarter of this year, Hubei's trade with Latin America has surged by 49.5 percent, consistingof a 41.9-percent increase in imports.
"It is hoped that , after the event, the ties between Hubei and Latin American and Caribbean countries will move further, the cooperation potential in various fields will release further, and the all-round cooperation between the two sides will step further. ”a relevant person in charge of Hubei addressed.
