The Yichang Hi-tech Industry Development Zone jumped 10 places to 52nd, according to the assessment results of national high-tech zones released on February 3, 2021.

  The comprehensive ranking, carried out by the Torch Center under the Ministry of Science and Technology,  assessed 169 national high-tech zones from four aspects, including knowledge creation and technological innovation, industrial upgrading and structural optimization, internationalization and participation in global competition as well as sustainable development.

  In 2020, the Yichang Hi-tech Industry Development Zone posted robust economic recovery. The industrial output and industrial added value ranked first in the city. The number of foreign trade enterprises and China-Europe freight train trips soared by 72 percent and 35 percent, respectively.
