Wuhan ranked eighth on the list of China’s most innovative cities in 2020, according to a report jointly released by Capital Institute of Science and Technology Development Strategy and CASS City and Competitiveness Research Center on January 23, 2021.
The report evaluated innovation resources, innovation environment, service support for innovation and performances of innovative products of 289 cities at prefecture level or above and gave a detailed ranking and analysis of each city’s innovation index.
The top ten cities are, in order, Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Suzhou, Wuhan, Xi'an and Tianjin.
The latest statistics and results of "Nature Index-Scientific Research Cities 2020", which was published on September 19 last year, showed that Wuhan has moved higher to the 13th place among the global scientific research cities.
