On the afternoon of May 25th, President Zhang Xiaomei met with Mr. Yamaguchi Shinichi, General Manager of Mizuho Bank Wuhan Branch.

  President Zhang extended a warm welcome to Mr. Yamaguchi and his colleagues. Zhang said, it was very touching that after the outbreak of COVID-19, Mr. Yamaguchi stood together with Wuhan citizens. He was the last Japanese to leave Wuhan and was among the first to return, which fully demonstrates his deep friendship and strong confidence in Hubei’s future development. Now a decisive victory has been won in the battle to safeguard Hubei Province and its capital Wuhan and the nationwide battle against the pandemic has gained major strategic achievements. Hubei’s economic fundamentals for long-term growth, comprehensive advantages accumulated over years and the role in national and regional development remain unchanged and it is still a fertile land for business. It is hoped that Mizuho Bank Wuhan Branch could leverage its extensive networks and encourage more Japanese enterprises to invest in Hubei.

  Mr. Yamaguchi expressed his gratitude to President Zhang for her hospitality and paid respect to CCPIT Hubei for its efforts in helping Japanese personnel of Mizuho Bank return to Wuhan and in facilitating foreign-funded enterprises on fast track back to work. He would love to motivate fellow enterprises to shore up confidence, grow and partner with Hubei. He also introduced about some Japanese companies including Suntory.

  The both sides exchanged views on 24-hour retail sales, catering and night economy.

  Heads of Administrative Office and International Relations Department attended the meeting.
