PresidentZhang Xiaomei met withMr. Anteneh Tariku Feleke, acting consul-general of the ConsulateGeneral of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Chongqing in the afternoon of December 17, 2019.
PresidentZhang welcomed the guestsand briefly introduced the economic and social development of Hubei. President Zhang said that with multiple opportunities superimposed by national development strategies including the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the Rise of Central China and Wuhan Pilot Free-trade zone,Hubei has enteredthegoldenperiod of developmentand played an even more important role in the state development layout. Hubei’s economy is transforming from high-speed development to high-quality development, exhibiting vigorous impetus and huge potentials, which offers new opportunitiesfor deepening cooperation between Hubei and Ethiopia. Zhang expressed the hope that Ethiopia may take advantages of its roles as the headquarter of Africa Union and as one of the key pillar states of the Belt and Road, so as to achieve win-win cooperation with Hubei in the fields of trade, agriculture, culture and human exchange, infrastructure construction and etc. Furthermore, President Zhang introduced HUBEI’sadvantages in project contracting and agriculture reclamation. Hubei project contracting enterprises have been undertaking projects of all types and scales all over the world with top engineering technologiesand advanced management abilities. In line with agriculture, many working groups from Hubei agriculture and reclamation system have been dispatched to Ethiopia aiding local people in the development of agriculture skills and technologies and making great contribution to local development. As professional trade and investment promotion organ, CCPIT Hubei carries out its work through international exhibition, foreign liaison, legal services and etc. President Zhang expressed the hope to promote bilateral high-level visits and comprehensive cooperation in the fields of economic and trade, science and technology and culture and human exchanges by the joint efforts of CCPIT Hubei and the ConsulateGeneral of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Chongqing.
Mr. Anteneh thanked President Zhang Xiaomei for her warm reception. Mr. Anteneh introduced that the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has formally confirmed in this November thatthe consular district ofthe ConsulateGeneral of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Chongqingextended to include the province of Hubei. The Consulate-General attaches great importance to the cooperation with Hubei and will pay more attention to Hubei in the future and pay more visits to Hubei for exchange of ideas with relevant government departments and enterprises of Hubei. Next year willbethe50thanniversaryof the establishment ofdiplomaticties betweenChinaandEthiopia. Forthe celebration of the 50thanniversary, the Consulate General would like to take this opportunity to organize activities in international exhibition, bilateral visits of governments and enterprises supported by CCPIT Hubei. Representative from the Consulate General of Ethiopia in Chongqing also made presentation on the general introduction and development opportunities of the country.
Personnel in charge from the division of foreign economic cooperation of the Hubei Provincial Department of Commerce, the department of foreign affairs, the departmentof membership affairs and information, and the department of international exhibition participated in the meeting.
