PresidentZhang Xiaomei met with Mr. Leonardo Olivera D’Andrea, the Counsel General ofUruguay Consulate General in Shanghaiin the afternoon of December 5, 2019.
PresidentZhang warmly welcomed the guests and briefly introduced Hubei and its advantages in location,science and technology, industry, ecology and agriculture. President Zhangintroduced that Hubei got its name from beingin the north of the Dongting Lake and prospered by the Yangtze River. Hubei Province locates in the central part of China and lies in the middle reach of the Yangtze River. A circle with the capital city Wuhan as the center and the radius of 1200 kms covers 83%of China’spopulation and 84% of the national GDP. Hubeiis the third largest higher education center in China with 150 colleges anduniversities and 1.5 million college students. Wuhan is the city with the largest number ofat-school university students in the world. Intellectuals gathered in Hubei and created astrong atmosphere of entrepreneurship.
Hubei has strong industrial base and complete industry chain. In the history, Hubei is oneoftheoriginplacesofChinesemodernindustry.Nowadays, new hi-tech industry led by “chips, screens, terminals and network”develops fast in Hubei.Hubei is richin agriculture resources. Provided with rich agricultural resources, it is animportant production base for primary products in China. Hubei came to be known as “a land flowingwith milk and honey” all along. With the longest distance that the mainstreamof the Yangtze River flows through, Hubeihas been persisted with the idea of “putting the biological environment first”and dedicated to the green development of the Yangtze Economic Belt.
Mr. Andreaextended sincere thanks to the warm reception by President Zhang Xiaomei. Heintroduced personal experiences in work and life and expressed his deep lovefor China, recalled thehistory of the bilateral exchanges between Uruguayand China, the cooperationbetween Uruguay and Hubei, and expressed his confidence and hope forstrengthening cooperation with Hubeiin the future. Mr. Andrea said that Uruguay Ambassy and Cosulates in China has keptvery good interaction and cooperation with CCPIT for years and forged a profoundfriendship. By this visit, Mr. Andrea wants to establish partnership with CCPITHubei and promote the bilateral exchanges and cooperation between governmentsand enterprises. Also Mr. Andrea advocated that CCPIT Hubei and Uruguay XXIInvestment, Export and Country Brand Promotion Agency to sign strategiccooperation agreement at the proper time.
In-depthcommunication on major industries and fields including agriculture, tourism,automobile and renewable energy has also been made between the parties. Headsof Foreign Relations Department, Membership Affairs & InformationDepartment and International Exhibition Department also attended the meeting.
