The China (Hubei)-Indonesia Economic and Trade Investment PromotionConference was held in Wuhan, Hubei’s capital city,on Oct. 14, 2025.
Organized by the Department of Commerce of Hubei Province, the event brought together leading enterprises and institutions in the province. Theyextended invitations to Indonesian partners for jointly exploring new cooperation prospects, aiming to deepen pragmatic cooperation under the framework of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement.
This year marks the 75th anniversary ofthe establishment ofdiplomatic relations between China and Indonesia. As one of Hubei’s largest trading partners in ASEAN, Indonesia plays a pivotal role in the province’s foreign trade.
Hubei’s steel products, electromechanical equipment, and chemical goods enjoy strong demand in Indonesia, while Indonesian agricultural products such as coffee, rubber, and palm oil, as well as mineral resources like coal, copper, and nickel, are continuously transported to Hubei and distributed nationwide.
Currently, Hubei has undertaken 284 contracted projects in Indonesia, with a total contract value exceeding 11 billion U.S. dollars. The Jinengdang No. 1 Hydropower Station, constructed by CGGC in Indonesia, has boosted local economic developmentandcreated 2,500 jobs.
At the conference,Minister of Transmigration of Indonesia Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara stated that Hubei is a major province of economy, science and education, and ecology in China, and boasts solid foundations in construction, manufacturing, and modern agriculture. These industrial strengths can actively empower Indonesia to accelerate the construction of industrial and agricultural modernization. He added that Indonesia hopes to deepen cooperation with Hubei to better benefit the peoples of both countries.
Statistics show thatthetrade volume between Hubei and Indonesia reached 25.2 billion yuan in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 28.6 percent.And in the first eight months of this year,the figuresurged by 51.1 percent to 23.4 billion yuan, demonstrating a robust growth momentum.
