Wuhan targets GDP growth at 6 pct in 2025

  Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, expects to notch a year-on-year gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 6 percent this year, according to a government work report deliveredat thefifth session of the 15th Wuhan Municipal People’s Congress on Wednesday.

  In 2025, the city aims to create250,000 new jobs in urban areas,andcontrol the consumer price index (CPI) growth at around2 percent, according to the report.

  Wuhan will strive to promote the development of competitive industries including optoelectronic information industry and high-end equipment industry. The city will also stimulate innovationin the fieldof artificial intelligence and boost the low-altitude economy through a wide range of measures.

  According to a preliminary estimate,Wuhan's GDP exceeded 2.1 trillion yuan in2024,registering a year-on-yeargrowth of 5 percent. And 298,000 new jobs were createdin urban areas. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei)
