China unveiled its third batch of little giant companies recently, with 31 hailing from Hubei Province. The amount ranked third in the country, Department of Economy and Information Technology of Hubei Province said on August 1, 2022.
Little giant companies refer to leading small and medium-sized enterprises or SMEs that specialize in niche sectors, command a high market share, and boast strong innovative capacity and core technologies.
Among the 31 key little giant companies approved by the state, 13 are based in Wuhan, 6 in Yichang, 3 in Xiangyang and Jingzhou, respectively and 1 in Ezhou, Xiaogan, Huanggang, Suizhou, Qianjiang and Tianmen, respectively.
They are mainly from key sectors of new-generation information technology, new materials, equipment manufacturing, and precision instruments, as well as local polar industry such as biomedicine.
As of now, Hubei has had 78 such little giant companies identified by the state.
