Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, saw a freight train depart from Wujiashan Station on May 20, for Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The train, loaded with 650 tons of bicycles, household appliances, fabrics and other products, will arrive in Kazakhstan after 12 days, marking the first outbound train linking Wuhan and the central Asian country.
The Wuhan- Kazakhstan route can save enterprises rail direct freight’ costs and cut the transportation time by five to seven days, a relevant person in charge of China Railway Materials Group Corporation introduced.
At present, the next train bound for central Asia from Wuhan has been under preparation. The regular trip is expected to operate once a week between the two sides.
Wuhan is highly complementary to central Asian countries like Kazakhstan in industries, as the former is an important manufacturing center in central China, while the latter is rich in agricultural products and mineral resources.
