Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, will accelerate the construction of "five centers", according to a mobilization conference held on February 18, 2021.
Anational economic center
- The city targets a GDP of 2.4 trillion yuan by 2025 and a more optimized industrial structure: the added value of the service sector and industry represents 62 percent and 27 percent of the GDP; the digital economy accounts for more than 50 percent .
Anational center for scientific and technological innovation
- The city now boasts 92 universities, 1.3 million university students and more than 90 innovation platforms nationwide. It will strive to increase the value of high-tech industries to 28 percent of GDP by 2025.
A national center for trade and logistics
- By 2025, retail sales of the city are expected to cross 1-trillion-yuan mark while the total value of logistics reached 5.5 trillion yuan.
A center of international exchanges
- By 2025, the import-export volume of the city is expected to reach 540 billion yuan; the number of international airlines will rise to 60; the number of foreign institutions will increase to 30.
A regional financial center
- By 2025, the added value of the city’s financial industry will exceed 250 billion yuan, and the listed companies will outnumber150.
