The just-completed intercity railway, connecting Wuhan and Xiantao cities in Hubei Province, is going to open to traffic soon, local media reported on December 25.
The railway, marking the fifth intercity railway in the province, stretches 88 kilometers. Consisting of a 71-kilometer line shared with Wuhan-Yichang intercity railway and a 17-kilometer newly built line, it is designed at speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
The Wuhan-Xiantao intercity railway strings together Hankou Station, Hanchuan Station, Dafu Station and Xiantao Station along the way.
At the early operational stage, five pairs of trains will run on the route every day, with three pairs stopping at Hanchuan Station, and two pairs going directly from Hankou Station to Xiantao Station, which will shorten the time from Xiantao to Wuhan to the fastest 41 minutes.
