Hubei's foreign trade up 9.7 pct in first ten months

  Hubei saw its foreign trade grow by 9.7 percent year on year to 344.6 billion yuan in the first ten months of 2020, with its growth rate ranking sixth place in the country, according to statistics released by the Wuhan Customs on November 12.

  The province's exports increased 8.8 percent year on year to 212.16 billion yuan during the 10-month period, while its imports jumped 11.1 percent to 132.44 billion yuan, 6.4 and 11.6 percentage points higher than the national average.

  In October, Hubei's foreign trade surged by 29.5 percent year on year to 50.46 billion yuan, setting a new monthly record.

  The European Union was Hubei's largest trading partner during this period, followed by the United States, Japan and South Korea, with their bilateral trade value jumping by 18 percent, 18.5 percent, 7.7 percent and 36.7 percent, respectively.

  Exports of textiles, garments and agricultural products ascended by 395.2 percent, 25.4 percent and 32.2 percent, respectively.

  Imports of mechanical and electrical products as well as integrated circuits soared by 18.2 percent and 30.9 percent, respectively.
