In the first seven months of this year, Hubei’s foreign trade turnover amounted to 205.66 billion yuan, growing by 0.7 percent year on year, 2.4 percentage points higher than the national average, according to statistics released by the Wuhan Customs on August 11.
Exports dropped by 2.7 percent to 123.07 billion yuan while imports surged 6.4 percent to 82.59 billion yuan in the period.
In July, Hubei saw its overall import-export volume expanded by 11.8 percent year on year to reach 39.01 billion yuan.
Hubei witnessed its private enterprises play a more prominent role in stabilizing its foreign trade growth. In July, the exports of private enterprises in the province soared by 35.8 percent, accounting for over 70 percent of the province's exports, becoming the main force in stabilizing foreign trade.
The China-Europe freight trains have speeded up the growth of Hubei's trade with Europe. In July, Hubei’s exports to Europe ascended by 71.4 percent as the fastest growing market. Among them, exports to Germany, France, the Netherlands, Poland jumped by more than 50 percent, while exports to the UK soared by 3.6 times.
