Employment market recovers in Q2: report
2020-08-03

The job market recovered significantly in the second quarter as the annual recruitment peak arrived later due to the pandemic, a new report says.

Demand for talent increased by 57.2 percent quarter over quarter and 14.8 percent year on year, a talent report released by online recruiter zhipin.com shows.

The top-three industries with the highest talent attraction index ratings were still Internet, IT and online education.

The ranking of urban talent attraction was also reshuffled. Guangzhou jumped to the top of the list for the first time, and Wuhan returned to the top 10.

The average monthly salary of white-collar workers in 50 surveyed cities is 8,190 yuan (US$1,169), with Beijing coming first (12,602 yuan).

As the epidemic comes under control in China, the willingness of talent to move across cities has increased compared with the first quarter, the study noted.

Zhipin.com observed that job seekers have a higher probability of moving within a specific urban agglomeration when they have the willingness to change jobs and want to seek offers across cities.

From April to June, the internal turnover rate of talent in the Yangtze River Delta region and Pearl River Delta area reached 97 percent.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security said at a recent press conference that 5.64 million new jobs were created in cities and towns nationwide in the first half, completing 63 percent of the annual target.
