Zhao Haishan, vice-governor of Hubei Province visited Sweden, Finland and Norway from May 7th through 16th, aiming to promote friendly exchanges and trade cooperation between the province and Northern Europe.
In Sweden, Zhao met with the governor of Gavleborg County and the director of the Ministry of Enterprise Innovation as well as attended the Hubei Economic and Trade Cooperation Fair and gave a speech. During the fair, Wuhan, Xiangyang and Yichang promoted their investment environment, 43 Hubei enterprises and more than 80 Nordic companies signed 11 projects, relating to sectors of food, new energy and eco-tourism, with a contract value of 20 billion US dollars.
In Finland, Zhao paid a visit to the Business Promotion Bureau, the Ministry of Trade and Employment, and reached an agreement with Finnish side on cooperation in industrial transformation, health, logistics and papermaking.
In Norway, Zhao arrived in Telemark and talked with deputy governor of the county, mayor of Sean City, and mayor of Sauherad City. In addition, he held discussion with the heads of Innovation Norway and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, reaching consensus on strengthening cooperation in the fields of economy, trade and seafood imports.
During the visit, Zhao also inspected Volvo, UPM and other famous companies in Northern Europe to and invited local enterprises to participate in the second China-North Europe Cooperation Forum on Economy and Trade organized by Hubei and China’s Ministry of Commerce at the China International Import Expo this year.
