Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, registered a total of 86,379 granted patents in 2021,  with a year-on-year increase of 46.6 percent.

  Out of the total, 18,553 invention patents were authorized during the same period, up 26.49 percent year on year. The average ownership of high-value invention patents reached 24.68 patents per 10,000 people .

  Wuhan’s trademark registrations expanded 23.85 percent year  on year to 84,137 in 2021. The number of valid registered trademarks amounted to 417,761. The average ownership of registered trademarks hit 26.32 per 100 market entities.

  In addition, 39 geographical indication trademarks and 8 geographical indication protection products were approved last year.

  In 2021, the city was home to 19 national intellectual property demonstration enterprises and  49 national intellectual property advantage enterprises.
