A new bridge spanning over the Yangtze River will be built in Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province, the Hubei Development and Reform Commission made the announcement on its official website on Monday.
The 3,780-meter-long and 42-meter-wide bridge, connecting Dijiao in Jiang'an District to Gongye Boulevard in Qingshan District of Wuhan are estimated to cost 4.688 billion yuan.
At present, Wuhan has built 16 lanes for people to travel between the two banks of the Yangtze River, including 11 bridges (Junshan Yangtze River Bridge, Zhuankou Yangtze River Highway Bridge, Baishazhou Yangtze River Bridge, Yangsigang Yangtze River Bridge, Yingwuzhou Yangtze River Bridge, Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge, 2nd Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge, Erqi Yangtze River Bridge, Tianxingzhou Yangtze River Bridge, Yangluo Yangtze River Highway Bridge and Qingshan Yangtze River Highway Bridge), 4 metro lines (Line2, 4, 7 and 8) and a tunnel.
The city plans to build another 16 new lanes to bring closer the two banks of the Yangtze River by 2025.
