A special promotion event for Hubei Province which was hard hit by COVID-19, was held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on April 12, in Beijing, in a bid to present a new Hubei that has emerged stronger from the difficulties, and build new bridges connecting it to the world.
Here are what the attended guests said at the event.
Hubei's all-out efforts in the fight against the epidemic have set a model for the world and provided ideas for the anti-epidemic work of all the countries. If have chance, I will definitely visit Hubei and Wuhan.
- Maha Ahmed, deputy representative of the United Nations World Food Programme in China
I once visited Hubei many years ago, and was deeply impressed by the province’s long history and splendid culture. After the epidemic, I haven't had the opportunity to go to Hubei yet. But I really want to see Hubei now and experience the good life of the people there.
The Hubei government and its people have made amazing contributions in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic. During that tough period, some Cubans stayed in Hubei, and they turned out to be healthy and safe, which gratified me.
- Carlos Miguel Pereira, Cuban Ambassador to China
Wuhan is a very warm city, and now is also very safe. In fact, other cities in Hubei have their own unique charm, such as Yichang, home to the Three Gorges Dam.
- Jamie Fouss, Consul General of U.S. Embassy in China
In the fight against the epidemic, the people of Hubei and Wuhan have endured tremendous pressure and hardships. This is not an easy task. Now Hubei’s economy is gradually recovering, enterprises have resumed work and production, students have returned to their schools, and the local people are back to their normal life. I feel proud of Hubei people.
- Eric Kalala Namund, Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Congo in China
It is very difficult and tough for frontline medical workers during the COVID-19 fight. Wuhan is a very good city. What impresses me most is the city’s food. I often cherish the memory of my time in Wuhan.
- Eduardo Escribano, Counselor of the Spanish Embassy in China
Hubei and Wuhan enjoy convenient transportation and obvious geographical advantages. Many manufacturing industries have settled down in the region, which indicates that they play a very important role in global supply chain. I believe that the future of Hubei will be better.
-Dino R. Kusnadi, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in China
