A train loaded with Japanese goods departed from Wujiashan Station on December 12, in Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province. It headed for Duisburg, Germany.
This is the first time for the China-Europe(Wuhan) Railway Express to transport goods from another country to Europe, opening up a new channel for international logistics in Wuhan.
The train was packed with mobile garbage bins, hand trucks, vibration test recorders, and other products from Japan, which were previously shipped from Nagoya Port in Japan to Yangluo Port in Wuhan and then transferred to Wujiashan Station. The whole journey will take about 22 days, 10 to 20 days shorter than sea voyage.
Wuhan is expected to open a direct river-sea route to South Korea in the second half of next year. By then, the "South Korea - Wuhan - Europe" water-rail multimodel transportation route will bid fair to be operational.
