Hubei's the total imports and exports reached 246.17 billion yuan by the end of August this year, a year-on-year increase of 2.6 percent, which were detailed by exports of 149.11 billion yuan with a growth rate of 0.1 percent and imports of 97.06 billion yuan with a growth rate of 6.8 percent, according to Wuhan Customs on September 10, 2020.
In the first eight months, the province saw imports and exports of 195.35 billion yuan in general trade, up 4.6 percent, which accounted for 79.4 percent of the province's total import and export value. Imports and exports by processing trade stood at 32.44 billion yuan, a drop of 15.7 percent.
In the January-August period, the imports and exports created by private enterprises in the province came to 135.62 billion yuan, accounting for 55.1 percent of the province's total foreign trade value, an increase of 3.8 percentage points over the same period last year.
In terms of product structure, the export value of labor-intensive products in the province surged in the eight months, rising by 76.5 percent to 40.95 billion yuan.
In addition, the province has exported 10.53 billion yuan of agricultural products during the period, an increase of 37.8 percent.
Speaking of imports, the province has imported 64.86 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, representing 66.8 percent of the province’s total import value, while the imported consumer goods attained 3.02 billion yuan, up 71 percent.
