On April 21, President Zhang Xiaomei visited Mr. Kang Seungseok, newly-appointed Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Wuhan.

  President Zhang expressed her admiration and respect for Mr. Consul General coming into office by a cargo flight carrying aid supplies to Wuhan during COVID-19 outbreak. Zhang also delivered appreciation to Mr. deputy consul and consulate staff along with Korean companies and Koreans staying inWuhan and standing with Wuhan citizens.

  Zhang updated the Consul General on positive outcomes in fighting COVID-19 and Hubei’s efforts in accelerating economic development. Zhang said CCPIT Hubei is pressing ahead with a program of ‘Restart And Fast-forward For A Win-win Future’ targeted on consulates general and business organizations in Hubei. By this visit, CCPIT Hubei tries to learn about possible difficulties of Korean companies in work reproduction and help them address problems.

  Zhang said that China and the ROK share a similar culture and traditions, which lays a solid foundation for bilateral relations and enjoy a broad prospect for close economic exchanges and cooperation. Hubei boasts eminent strengths in transport, industry, market, science and technology,education and labor resources, which entails huge potentials for development. CCPIT Hubei is willing to strengthen cooperation with the Consulate General, support Korean entrepreneurs in Hubei better use preferential policies for companies and hasten production resumption.

  Mr. Kang Seungseok delivered his warm welcome and sincere appreciation to President Zhang for her support in fighting COVID-19 and work resumption. This year marks the 28th anniversary of the establishment of China-ROK diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Consulate General in Wuhan. Kang hopes that the consulate general and CCPIT Hubei could maintain regular exchanges and that CCPIT Hubei and relevant government departments could offer consistent support to Korean enterprises so that more Korean businesses could invest in Hubei.

  Both sides exchanged views on topics such as exhibitions of quality products, online business matchmaking and how to help Korean companies and Koreans in Wuhan tackle problems. And President Zhang delivered health kits to the Consulate General.

  Deputy Consul-General Mr. Lee Kwang Ho, Consul Mr. Choi Sanghoon, directors of Foreign Relations Department and International Exhibition Department attended the meeting.
