Promotion Activities of Hubei Staged in Macao——Hubei business delegation successfully visited Macao

In order to display a new look of post-pandemic Hubei, introduce new advantages and strengthen cooperation between Hubei and Macao, at the invitation of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Ms. Zhang Xiaomei, president of CCPIT Hubei, led a delegation to Macao for the 25th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF) and carried out a series of business activities from October 21st to 24th.

At its first stop, the delegation visited the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region. Mr. Yao Jian, deputy director of the Office, Ms. Zhu Hong, deputy director-general of Economic Affairs Department and representatives of enterprises such as Nam Kwong Logistics CompanyLimited attended the meeting. President Zhang Xiaomei expressed her heartfelt thanks to the Liaison office for their support and efforts in organizing donations from all walks of life in Macao to help Hubei fight against the pandemic. Then she briefed the latest progress of Hubei Province in coordinating epidemic prevention and control with economic and social development and actively integrating into dual circulation. Mr Yao paid tribute to the people of Hubei who made great sacrifices and contributions to the fight against COVID-19, and said that the office would continue to offer support and create good conditions for Hubei-Macao cooperation.

The Macao International Trade and Investment Fair is one of the largest annual international economic and trade events in Macao. Against the backdrop of the pandemic, Macao SAR government overcomes difficulties and holds the 25th MIF, 2020 Portuguese-speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) and Macao Franchise Expo, which helps enterprises both locally and from Chinese mainland ‘going global’ and ‘bringing in’ and facilitates cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. CCPIT Hubei highlighted industrial strengths and exhibited premium products such as medical supplies, organic black tea and auto parts. Exhibitors at the fair showed great interests and discussed about opportunities for collaboration.

CCPIT Hubei held a promotion session under the theme of ‘Nirvana of Phoenix, Realisation of Grand Plans’ in Conference Zone of Venetian Macao. The representatives of Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute and CCPIT Representative Office in Macao, Mr. Ma Youheng, member of the standing committee of the CPPCC Hubei Provincial Committee, Mr. Ye Rongfa and other members of the CPPCC Hubei Provincial Committee, guests from chambers and business communities joined the event.

At the session, President Zhang focused on promoting great spirit of combating COVID-19, Hubei’s comprehensive advantages and development potentials as well as new achievements in recovering economy and protecting people's livelihood. Videos about Hubei, International Commodities Trading Centre in Tongcheng county, Wuhan International Commodities Trading Center and Wuhan New Port were played. Participants are confident in future development and express their willingness to strengthen cooperation.

During their stay in Macao, delegation also visited Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, Macao Convention and Exhibition Association, Macau University of Science and Technology and its State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicines, Portuguese-speaking Countries Food Products Exhibition Centre, Macao-Wuhan Friendship Association and Macao Youth Federation and respectively discussed on enhancing cooperation with Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries, leveraging on Macao’s strengths in exhibition, traditional Chinese medicine and trading service platform, pushing Hubei TCM companies going global, deepening youth and educational exchanges and building chamber of Hubei in Macao.

This visit has enabled us to consolidate friendship, make new friends and learn more about advanced concepts of Macao’s hosting green exhibition, which lays a solid foundation for Hubei strengthening economic and trade cooperation with Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries in dual circulation.
