On November 19th, Jingzhou Hall of the East Lake International Conference Center was teaming with guests and in an electrifying atmosphere. The promotion event of Hubei premium products, organized by CCPIT Hubei at the 20th Conference on Overseas Chinese Pioneering and Developing in China, raised its curtain. Over 100,000 overseas Chinese gathered on and offline looking for potential business opportunities under a dual circulation development pattern. Mr. Zhao Haishan, Vice Governor of Hubei Provincial People's Government, attended the activity and addressed the audience and Ms. Zhang Xiaomei, president of CCPIT Hubei presided over the event.
Vice Governor Zhao said that 2020 is extremely special and extraordinary. Many overseas Chinese worked together to help Hubei fight COVID-19. With a package of support policies from central government, Hubei's economic performance in the third quarter recovered to 90% of last year, import and export growth rate higher than national average, leading economic indicators improved month by month and its economic situation accelerated to a full recovery. With advantages in geographic location, transportation, science and education and industries, Hubei boasts a complete industrial chain and supply chain. It is faithfully implementing guiding principles of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, building an international air passenger and cargo hub, smoothing shipping routes to the Pacific Ocean through the Yangtze Golden Waterway, speeding up construction of world-class city clusters with Wuhan city cluster playing the leading role and striving to be a key node in domestic economic cycle and a strategic link between the domestic and international economic cycles.

Chinese Ambassador to Japan, Mr. Kong Xuanyou, pointed out that a decisive victory in the battle to defend Hubei Province is a great contribution to the global fight against COVID-19. On behalf of Chinese Embassy to Japan and all overseas Chinese in Japan, he paid high tribute to the heroic people and highly commended Hubei’s efforts in tiding over difficulties, helping Japanese enterprises fast-track work resumption and doing their part in driving the restoration of international supply chain. Hubei's comprehensive advantages in cooperation with Japan remain unchanged and many Japanese enterprises in Hubei express their readiness for more investment.
Chinese Ambassador to Republic of Korea, Mr. Xing Haiming applauded Hubei’s cooperation with countries including ROK in fighting the pandemic. He stressed that in the post-pandemic era, China and ROK foresee great potentials and a bright prospect for cooperation in all sectors. Under RCEP, given Hubei’s favorable geographic location, convenient transportation and industrial strengths, it will play an increasingly important role as a hub in China-ROK cooperation.
Chinese Ambassador to Slovenia, Mr. Wang Shunqing, introduced Slovenia’s geographic and industrial advantages. He said that a new round of reform and opening-up witnesses the Yangtze River’s development in the new era, which will promote cooperation between Hubei and Slovenia in various fields, including scientific and technological innovation, agricultural trade, culture and tourism.
Chinese Ambassador to Botswana, Mr. Zhao Yanbo recalled his working experience in Hubei 7 years ago when he was deeply impressed by the Province’s commitment to keeping reform, innovation and opening-up. He said the Embassy will further help Hubei have closer exchanges with Southern Africa and even the African continent.
Chinese Ambassador to Mali, Mr. Zhu Liying, said that Hubei withstood a severe challenge of COVID-19 and has gained wide praise across the country and even the whole world. Humanwell Pharmaceutical (Hubei) Co., Ltd. successfully started a business in Mali and became a good example of China-Mali cooperation. Diplomats at forefront will fully support Hubei to speed up its post-pandemic recovery and help more of its specialties go into Mali’s market.
